# GitHub

> Your agent looks at your repos, issues, pull requests and Actions, and creates or changes things only with your OK.

With GitHub, your agent uses GitHub's official tool to look at your repos, sum up issues, review a pull request and tell you why a deploy failed. If the token allows it, it also opens issues and comments, always with your OK.

| **Category** | Development |
| **For** | Personal and group agents (for example, your team's agent) |
| **What it asks for** | A GitHub personal access token |
| **How it connects** | With a one-time link your agent sends you |

## What it can do

* See and clone repos.
* See, search and create issues.
* See pull requests, their changes and their checks.
* See Actions runs and the logs of the ones that failed.
* See releases.
* Anything else your token allows, from reading to creating or changing.

## How it connects

<Steps>
  <Step title="Add it to an agent">
    From **Plugins → GitHub → Add to an agent**, or ask your agent in the chat. See [Add a plugin](/en/tools/add-a-plugin).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create a token on GitHub">
    On GitHub: **Settings → Developer settings → Personal access tokens → Fine-grained tokens**. Give it access to the repos you want, with read permissions (or write, if you want it to create issues or pull requests).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Paste it in your agent's link">
    Your agent sends you a one-time link for the token. Paste it there, not in the chat. See [Keys and values](/en/tools/keys-and-values).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Your agent confirms">
    It checks that the token works and tells you in the chat that it's ready.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## How it looks out for you

* **Nothing changes without your OK.** Before creating or changing something (issues, pull requests, comments, merges), it checks with you.
* The real limit is the token's permissions: give it only what it needs.
* It writes on GitHub in the language you ask for; if you don't say, in the repo's.

## Things to ask it

* "Which PRs do I have open in minai/web?"
* "Why did the last deploy fail in Actions?"
* "Sum up the open issues labeled bug."
* "Open an issue in the api repo: the health page returns a 500 error."
* "Show me the changes in PR 42 and tell me if anything looks off."

## Limits

* It can only do what the token allows.
* It works with the repos in its own workspace.

## If you remove it

Your agent loses access right away and confirms it. The token is deleted from minai with the plugin; to close it off completely, also delete it on GitHub. See [Remove a plugin](/en/tools/remove-a-plugin).
