# Software and code

> Your agent has its own computer on minai's servers: it runs programs, writes code and installs what it needs.

Each agent works in its own space, a Linux computer on minai's servers. There it runs commands, writes and runs programs, and can install new tools when it needs them. You don't need to know how to code: just ask in your own words.

## What it comes with

It comes ready with the most common things: Node.js, Python, git, PDF tools, SQLite databases, file compression, ssh connections and its browser.

## What it can install

It can add more programs to its space, without admin permissions:

* Languages and their tools: .NET, Java, Go, Rust.
* Node.js and Python packages.
* Programs that come ready to download.
* A PostgreSQL database.

If something is big (hundreds of MB), it tells you first and roughly how much space it takes.

## What it can't install

* Anything that needs system admin permissions (`sudo`, `apt`).
* Docker, or system services.
* Packages that have to be compiled on the machine: it has no C compiler, so those installs fail.

If what you ask for falls on this list, it tells you clearly and suggests another way.

## Shared among your agents

What one agent installs, your other agents can use too: they share programs. If Bruno installed .NET, Clara doesn't have to install it again.

## Space and your plan

What your agents install and save takes up space, and space **counts toward your plan**. In **Settings** → **Plan and usage** → **Space** you see how much each agent uses and how much the **Shared** one uses (“The programs your agents use”). How much space each plan includes: see [Plans](/en/reference/plans).

<Warning>
  At 80% of your space you get a notice. If you go over the limit, your agents stop until you free up room. Ask your agent to delete what it no longer uses.
</Warning>

## Long jobs

* It can hand a long task to a helper and keep answering you in the meantime.
* It can run programs for up to two hours and tell you when they finish.
* It can leave a program that runs on its own every so often and wakes it up only if something happens. See [Schedules](/en/reference/agent/schedules).

## Things to ask it

* "Install .NET and build this project for me."
* "Run the tests in my repo."
* "Make me a script that gets the official dollar rate every day at 10."
* "I have this Excel file with sales: make me a summary by month and a chart."
* "How much space are you using? Delete whatever isn't needed."

## Good to know

* What it saves outside its workspace isn't kept.
* If its computer restarts, the programs it left running (for example, a database) don't start up on their own: ask it to start them again.
